Celestial Bay Margaret River, planted 2000, north-facing block, VSP canopy system, pesticide and herbicide-free vineyard practises.


Machine harvested, ten days fermentation on skins in open fermenters with hand plunging twice daily, natural cultured yeast, tank pressed, 14 months in seasoned French oak barriques, a small inclusion of Frankland River Cabernet to brighten the palate prior to bottling, vegan fined with minimal sulphites.

Tasting Notes

Dark purple in colour, intensely lifted aromatics of violets, spice, mocha, dark chocolate with a full spectrum of blue fruits. The palate rolls through, filling the mouth with cherry-cola, and sarsaparilla flavours with soft gentle oak tannins and a juicy, long finish.


Minimal filtration, vegan fined and minimal sulphur on bottling to keep the wine fresh and lively.


Pair with the flavours and cuisine of Latin America, or exciting Asian game dishes such as duck, pork and spice.

This is sourced from Karridale south of Margaret River, so the cooler climate fruit in what was a cooler season is significant. This is a variety on which Clandestine believe they will hang their hat on the future as the variety for Margaret Rivet. It’s bright and energetic almoston the palate. The colour is bright reddy crimson. Chalky tannins and cherry plum characters provide such perfumes and aromatics. Just a little back palate grip adds to the structure and poise.

These Clandestine Vineyards wines are a tidy bunch. Sourced from Margaret River, this Malbec will mop up a steak or hearty meal with ease.Peppery and earthy, licorice and spices get things moving. Get in deep with plums and mulberries. The more I investigate the more it tells me it is a meat kind of wine. Rustic feels with black pepper, it finishes long with a sapping dryness. Another glass please. Drink to five years.
